Geography
All Around the World
Our current topic in Geography is ‘All around the World’. We have learnt what the different parts of the globe are called and researched a country on the equator to discover what the weather is like there. We have learnt about the lines of latitude and longitude and how they are used in map work. We will be continuing our topic over the next few weeks, exploring what makes the Antarctica unique, what the weather is like in the tropics and discovering what time zones and the Prime Meridian is.
Land Use
In Geography we became cartographers and created our own maps of our school grounds. We looked at what makes a good map and what we needed to include. We ensured we added a key.
What's it like in Whitby?
In Geography, we are developing our understanding of land use to focus on the sea-side town of Whitby. We have looked at the location, how the land is used and the impact of this land use on the bio-diversity of the surrounding area.
