BPS Eco Council
Welcome to our Eco Council
The Eco Council is a great opportunity for pupils to contribute to creating a School environment that is ecologically sustainable. It consists of a representative from Year 1 to Year 6 who are elected each school year.
Supported by Mrs Mead, their role is to develop and sustain the reduction of Blackrod Primary's footprint.
What is the Eco Council?
An inclusive, structured, forum for creating change.
A means for children to engage with the core principles of being environmentally friendly.
A means to spread this ethos throughout the school.

Future Plans:
Members of Y3 and 4 Eco Council will be getting involved in both local and national initiatives to improve our area.
As part of the 'Trees and Us' project, the Eco Councillors will be working with Manchester Metropolitan University and the City of Trees Charity to create a film all about the importance of trees, to our learning and survival.
Recycling Centre Visit
We visited the Longley Lane Recycling for Greater Manchester Site to get a better understanding of where our rubbish ends up, how it is sorted and recycled and what we can do to help our School, Community and planet.
Litter picking:
As a Council we agreed that it is important to make sure our School and its surrounding grounds are free from any rubbish or litter that could endanger ourselves and the animals that inhabit the land we share.
City of Trees Orchard planting:
Eco Council were invited by the City of Trees partnership to be part of planting a section of 'The Great Northern Forest' initiative. We joined in with other members of the local community to plant a fruit orchard that will be make up a line of trees from Liverpool to Hull.
