P.S.H.E
Health and Wellbeing
During PSHE in Autumn we learnt about how to keep our brains and bodies healthy.
We learnt how to:
- Describe how we feel using appropriate vocabulary, recognising what different emotions might look/feel like.
- Describe situations which may provoke certain feelings.
- Describe our own qualities and strengths and recognise something they want to get better at.
- Describe our bedtime routine, explaining why sleep is important.
- Explain how rest and relaxation affects our bodies, including mental functions.
- Identify examples where we could use relaxation to help manage difficult emotions.
- Understand that germs can be spread via our hands.
- Know how to wash Our hands properly.
- Know the three things we need to do when out in the sun to keep safe.
- Know people can be allergic to certain things and how to help with an allergic reaction.
- Understand that there are a range of people who help to keep us healthy.
Families and Relationships
We have been exploring how families can be different, the characteristics and impact of positive friendships; learning that issues can be overcome, people show feelings differently and that stereotyping is unfair. Looking at conventions of manners and developing an understanding of self-respect.
This Spring term we have focussed on
- Understand that people have choices about what they do with their money
- Discussed and recorded strategies for getting on with others in the classroom.
- Identified different strategies for dealing with impulsive behaviour.
We have been discussing that people have choices about what they do with their money
The children discussed whether they would spend five pounds on a small toy/item or save for a larger toy even though that may take a much longer time.

We discussed the school rules and how those rules help to keep everybody safe. We talked about what is fair and unfair, kind and unkind. We suggested ways that we can show kindness to others and that people's bodies and feelings can be hurt.
The children discussed the different strategies we can use for dealing with impulsive behaviour.
We talked about the occasions when we feel like erupting and that sometimes it does feel as though words or thoughts are trying to ‘erupt’ from our mouths but we have a choice about this. We can take control.
